During mating season, these seabirds put on a show, dancing and flaunting their vibrant feet like they’re on the runway of a high-fashion show. It’s a spectacle that’s not to be missed if you ever find yourself in this archipelago.

The Pangolin

This animal looks like it just stepped out of a fairy tale. They are covered in hard keratin scales that serve as armor against predators. But here’s where it gets interesting: when threatened, pangolins can curl up into a tight ball, making it nearly impossible for would-be attackers to get a grip.

Despite their unique defenses, pangolins are in serious trouble. They’re the most trafficked mammals in the world, with their scales highly valued in traditional medicine. It’s important to protect them before it’s too late.

The Okapi

At first glance, it looks like a mix between a giraffe and a zebra but it’s its own unique animal. Living in the dense rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the okapi has a long neck like a giraffe and those cool stripey legs like a zebra.
